7th Month Ghost Festival Dinner

On Saturday, 2 August, 08, my family went for the 7th Month Ghost Festival Dinner.

Information:
2008, 7th Month is a festival (1st to 30th August 2008) is known as the Hungry Ghost Festival (also Zhong Yuan Jie in Mandarin). Every year, it takes place during the 7th lunar month. It is believed that during this time, souls are released from Purgatory to wander the earth for a month.
During this month, there will be a few activities going on around different places including Taoist monks chanting, preparing ritualistic food offerings and burning incense and joss papers for the visiting spirits. As usual, there will be getai and dinner. During the dinner, many people would bid for items in the hope and belief that they would, in year ahead, bring prosperity to them.
